Proof support & help center

Need help capturing or verifying a proof? You’re in the right place. This page explains how Proof works and how to get support.

What is Proof?

Proof lets you quickly capture trustworthy records of what happened and when — using notes, photos, and tamper‑evident PDFs that can be verified later.

  • Log events with notes and photos
  • Export verifiable PDFs
  • Verify shared notes and PDFs in the app

How to use Proof

Create a proof

  1. Open the app and tap to add a new proof.
  2. Write a short note describing what happened.
  3. Add one or more photos if you want visual context.
  4. Save — Proof creates a cryptographic fingerprint in the background.

Share a proof

  1. Open an existing proof in the app.
  2. Use the share button.
  3. Choose to share as text (for quick messaging) or as a PDF (best for long‑term or official use).
  4. The shared content includes everything needed to verify that it hasn’t been altered.

How verification works

Verify a shared note

  • Open the Proof app and go to the Verify tab.
  • Paste the full message that was shared from Proof.
  • Proof recomputes the hash from the note and checks it against the embedded verification data.
  • If they match, you’ll see that the proof is legitimate.

Verify a PDF

  • In the Verify tab, choose the “Upload PDF” option.
  • Select the PDF that was exported from Proof.
  • The app reads the embedded integrity data and recomputes it.
  • If the integrity hash matches, the PDF content has not been altered.

Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how Proof handles your data when you use the app.

Information we collect

  • Account information – the email address and name you provide when you create an account.
  • Proof records – notes, timestamps, and metadata required to verify your proofs. Photo files may be stored on your device and/or in secure storage depending on how you use the app.
  • Technical information – basic analytics and diagnostic data (such as crash logs) to keep Proof reliable.

How we use your data

  • To provide the core Proof functionality and keep your records available to you.
  • To help you verify shared notes and PDFs.
  • To maintain and improve the reliability and security of the app.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if I delete the app or change phones?

Your data is stored in the cloud and tied to your account, so you can sign in on a new device and access your existing proofs. Local copies of photos on a specific device may not be available if those files were removed from that device.

Why might a pasted message fail verification?

Some apps change or remove invisible characters when you copy and paste, which can break the embedded verification data. If that happens, try verifying using the exported PDF in the Verify tab, or copy the original message directly from Proof.

Is my data private?

Proof is designed so that you stay in control of your data. We use secure communication with the backend and do not modify your records. For questions about privacy, reach out using the contact information below.
